Nestled in the heart of Little Baddow and surrounded by beautiful countryside, The Generals Arms is the perfect spot to relax with family and friends. Whether you're stopping by for drinks or to enjoy our freshly prepared Italian-inspired à la carte menu, we pride ourselves on creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere with genuine hospitality. A popular meeting place for local residents, horse riders, and walkers, we're also proud to be featured in Top 50 Walks in Essex.

The Bar

Our bar is a welcoming place for both a quick drink and a longer stay. Choose from our carefully chosen wines - we're proud winners of Shepherd Neame Best Wine List of the Year 2025 - as well as draft lager, cask ale, premium spirits, and soft drinks. Guests can also enjoy meals from our menu in the bar area, with the same dishes available as in the restaurant. Dogs are very welcome in the bar, though not in the restaurant.

Olio on the Ridge - Restaurant

For a full dining experience, visit our restaurant, Olio on the Ridge. Our Italian à la carte menu features weekly specials, fresh fish, prime cut steaks, and other seasonal meat dishes. We also offer a set lunch menu Tuesday to Friday as well as an evening à la carte menu and set evening menu (available Tuesday to Thursday).
Attentive service and a central open log fire during the colder months ensure a cosy and welcoming atmosphere for every occasion.

The Garden

Accessible from the front of the pub, our large, secure garden offers plenty of outdoor seating for families and friends to relax. At weekends (weather permitting), guests can also enjoy our outdoor bar and barbecue area, available on Saturdays and Sundays.
